Reviews and assessments
How self-reviews, supervisor reviews, and skills assessments work together.
Reviews and assessments give structure to the development conversation beyond the regular check-in. They capture a moment-in-time evaluation that can be compared over time.
Self-reviews
Associates complete a self-review to rate their own performance and reflect on their progress. This is intentionally done before the supervisor review β so the conversation starts from the associate's own perspective, not the manager's.
Supervisor reviews
Supervisors complete their own review of the associate covering the same dimensions. The two reviews are then compared side by side, making gaps in perception visible and giving the conversation a clear starting point.
Skills assessments
Assessments test specific competencies β stations, menu knowledge, service standards β and produce a score. Results are attached to the associate's profile and tracked over time so progression is visible.
Progressive discipline tracking
If a performance or conduct issue needs to be formally documented, supervisors can record a disciplinary conversation as part of a review. This creates a time-stamped audit trail that is stored securely and accessible to owners.
Documentation is not punitive β it protects both the associate and the business by ensuring conversations are on record and consistent.
