The 90-day onboarding program

How milestone check-ins are scheduled, what each touchpoint covers, and what happens after 90 days.

The 90-day program is the core of The StaffApp. Research consistently shows that the first 90 days determine whether a new hire stays, grows, or leaves. We built the cadence around that reality.

How milestones are scheduled

When a staff member is added, the cadence engine calculates their 30, 60, and 90-day dates based on their hire date. Check-in rows are created automatically β€” no manual scheduling needed. They appear in the Check-in queue when the date arrives.

The three milestone conversations

  • 30-day β€” Early impression check. Are they getting the support they need? Any early confusion about expectations?
  • 60-day β€” Mid-point evaluation. Are they integrating with the team? Is their pace of development on track?
  • 90-day β€” Full onboarding review. Are they ready to operate independently? What's their development path from here?

After 90 days β€” annual check-ins

Once an associate clears the 90-day window, they move to annual check-ins scheduled on their hire date anniversary each year. These keep the development conversation alive for tenured staff.

Adding existing employees

If someone is already past their 90-day mark when you add them, their milestones are auto-skipped. They move directly into the annual cadence β€” their next check-in will be scheduled for their next hire anniversary.
