Accessibility Statement

The StaffApp™
Last Updated: April 15, 2026

Chef Life Media LLC is committed to making The StaffApp™ accessible to people of all abilities. We believe that effective workforce management tools should work for every manager, chef, and staff member — regardless of how they interact with technology.

Our Commitment

Hospitality is an industry built on people. It would be ironic, at best, to build a staff development platform that excluded the people it’s supposed to help. We’re working to make sure that doesn’t happen.

The Standard We Aim For

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is the standard referenced in most accessibility laws around the world, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and the European Accessibility Act.

WCAG 2.1 AA covers accessibility across four principles:

  • Perceivable: information and interface components must be presented in ways users can perceive, regardless of how they sense the world
  • Operable: interface components and navigation must be operable via keyboard, assistive technology, and various input methods
  • Understandable: information and the operation of the interface must be understandable
  • Robust: content must be robust enough to work with current and future assistive technologies

Where We Are Today

The StaffApp™ is an actively developed product, and accessibility is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time achievement. As of the date above, we have implemented or are implementing:

  • Semantic HTML structure across the application and marketing site
  • Keyboard navigation support for primary workflows
  • Sufficient color contrast aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements (our brand palette — navy, orange, cyan — has been tested for contrast ratios)
  • Descriptive alt text for meaningful images
  • Form labels and error messages associated with their inputs
  • Focus indicators that are visible for keyboard users
  • Responsive design that works across screen sizes and orientations
  • Text that can be resized to at least 200% without loss of functionality
  • A voice dictation feature that provides an alternative input method for users who find typing difficult

Areas where we are still improving:

  • Full screen reader optimization across every screen and workflow
  • Consistent ARIA labeling on complex interactive components
  • Accessibility of any third-party components we embed
  • Captioning and transcripts for any video content we publish
  • Expanded keyboard shortcuts for power users who rely on keyboard navigation

Known Limitations

We want to be transparent about limitations as of the date of this statement:

  • Formal third-party accessibility audit has not yet been completed. We plan to commission one within our first year of general availability and publish a summary of findings and remediations.
  • Some complex interactive components (date pickers, rich-text editors, drag-and-drop elements) may not yet meet full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. We are working to remediate these.
  • The marketing site and the application are developed on different platforms (WordPress and a custom React application respectively). Parity across both for accessibility is a work in progress.
  • Mobile accessibility is being addressed on the same cadence as desktop.

When we discover an accessibility barrier, we prioritize its remediation based on severity and the workflows it affects.

How We Test

Our current accessibility testing practices include:

  • Automated accessibility scanning as part of our development process
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing with common assistive technologies (NVDA, VoiceOver) on primary user flows
  • Color contrast verification against WCAG 2.1 AA ratios
  • Real-user feedback from customers who use assistive technology

We plan to expand this with formal third-party auditing and more comprehensive user testing with people who use assistive technology daily.

Compatibility

We aim to support The StaffApp™ across:

  • Browsers: recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge
  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver on supported browsers
  • Operating systems: recent versions of Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android
  • Input methods: mouse, keyboard, touch, and voice input

If you encounter a compatibility issue with a specific assistive technology or device combination, please let us know so we can investigate.

Voice Dictation as an Accessibility Feature

The Dictate feature is an optional way to enter text into any notes field by speaking instead of typing. Voice dictation is available on all paid plans. While we built it primarily for managers in noisy, hands-busy environments, it also serves as an accessibility feature for users who find typing difficult, have motor disabilities, or prefer voice input generally.

Voice dictation is off by default and must be enabled in user settings. Full details on how it works, including privacy protections, are available in our Voice Dictation help documentation and Privacy Policy.

Reporting Accessibility Barriers

If you experience an accessibility barrier using The StaffApp™ — whether it’s a page that doesn’t work with your screen reader, a form you can’t complete with keyboard, text that’s hard to read, or anything else — please tell us. We take these reports seriously and use them to prioritize our work.

When reporting, it’s helpful to include:

  • A description of the problem
  • The page or feature where you encountered it (URL, if possible)
  • The browser, operating system, and assistive technology you’re using
  • What you expected to happen and what happened instead
  • Any screenshots or recordings, if you can share them

How to contact us:

  • Email: accessibility@thestaffdevapp.com
  • Response time: we aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to provide a substantive response within 10 business days

We will work with you to provide the information or service you need through an alternative accessible method while we work on a fix.

If You Need Content in a Different Format

If you need information about The StaffApp™ (pricing, features, help documentation, legal documents) in an alternative format — large print, plain text, accessible PDF, or another format — please contact us at the email above. We will provide it at no charge within a reasonable time frame.

Our Ongoing Work

Accessibility is not a destination. Browsers change, assistive technologies change, our product changes, and the standards themselves evolve. We’re committed to treating accessibility as an ongoing part of how we build, not a compliance checkbox we tick once and forget.

Specific near-term commitments:

  • Quarterly internal accessibility reviews
  • Annual third-party accessibility audit (beginning within our first year of general availability)
  • Publication of audit findings and remediation progress
  • Accessibility considerations integrated into our design and development practices for every new feature

Relationship to Legal Requirements

This statement reflects our good-faith commitment to accessibility. It is not a warranty that every page, feature, or workflow currently conforms fully to WCAG 2.1 AA or any specific legal standard. We are working toward conformance, we take reported barriers seriously, and we will continue to improve.

Customers with specific legal accessibility obligations (for example, public-sector employers with Section 508 requirements) should contact us before subscribing so we can discuss current conformance status and any accommodations needed.
